This sort of executive portraiture you see in this portfolio photo is a subset of the work that I do as a photographer who is primarily focused on serving the needs of businesses, communications departments and advertising agencies.
Working with businesses, as well as individual business people, to refine their image and strengthen their ability to communicate professionalism and personality is a specialized area of my work as an Albany NY photographer.
We are in a visual world today. From a profile photo on a social media site to an avatar on a business networking site, your visual image is truly your first impression and also is your “business card” of this century.
You need a great image to communicate who you are. Or to communicate an intangible aspect of your personality such as engagement, trustworthiness, leadership, experience. And all of these ideas can be accomplished and communicated in a photo that is done as a a more simple treatment, such as against a plain background. Or it can be an image which shows more of the environment or the working surroundings. Perhaps unique lighting in a unique setting is what is called for. Any way it is accomplished, each type of image is driven by the composition I choose, the posing I help elicit and the type of lighting we will choose to create. From fully natural lighting, to lighting that only looks natural to a completely created lighting style, I have the experience to create and use lighting to its best advantage in communicating your message and creating impact.

All of my corporate portraits are done on location. We can create a small studio at your site, making images which are about the person and not as much about the environment. Or we can take an approach which blends in more of the environment, creating what is quite literally called an environmental portrait. Either way, my photos have a polished look and a professional look. But they aren’t an overly polished and highly retouched look. Nor are they an “idealized” look that screams “studio photography!!” My goal is to create images that are relatable and realistic. And don’t create a disconnect in the mind of someone who sees your photo then meets you in person.
These leadership or staff portraits can be done on a higher volume production scale, where we aim to document lots of your staff in a pleasing manner in a modest amount of time. Or they can be done with a higher commitment of time for each person, aiming to capture a little more personality and individuality.
Or these portraits can be done as more of a singular branding session or environmental portrait, where lots of time is spent finely crafting the final result for just one or two people.
I am a business photography specialist. You won’t see consumer or social photography on my website. I have the experience in meeting the needs of businesses. And, I have the skill set to work in a professional environment as well as the people skills to comfortably interface with everyone from line workers to C Suite top management.
Since I’m a location photographer, I come to you and work in your environment. We create great photos at your locations or places of business. Or at an entirely separate place that speaks to your business or to the message you are trying to convey.
This approach to creating great photos on location is convenient for you and especially for your staff as it minimizes everyone’s down-time. Or figuring out the logistics of getting everyone to a studio somewhere off-site. And, if we are doing portraits that are more environmental in nature, it helps present a cohesive visual message if your clients and customers see you in your environment, the environment which is familiar to them.
