Covering fast moving events as an upstate photographer has me working at the NY State capitol often. Albany draws many groups and is the center of many events during the year that I cover as an Albany event photographer.
A documentary approach, where I photograph what is actually happening, is a skill developed over decades as a full time working photojournalist in Albany.
Cleanly composed and technically solid images help create engagement with your viewers/readers. The average viewer spends less than 3 seconds with a photo. A cluttered, poorly composed or technically deficient image will have the viewer moving away almost instantly.
I’m always looking for emotions and reactions while working as an upstate photographer.
Covering stage presentations is a common aspect of my event coverage. I try to find much more than just a standard podium shot and always try to catch emotion and reactions.
My decades of experience allow me to move easily between spontaneous and controlled images.
Years of familiarity photographing in the Capitol building as well as the legislative office building helps me bring back the images you need from crowded and confusing lobbying days or legislative visits.
Outside of the New York State assembly chamber during session can be packed tighter than a rush hour bus and legislative members often have only a few moments as they rush to fulfill conflicting, time sensitive, demands.
