Syracuse Editorial Photographer shoots at Empire Brewing
Working as a Syracuse editorial photographer, my assignment was to document the work being done at Empire Brewing.
The creative brief required visiting several breweries on the same day. This made it necessary to create some key signature images from each location, then be able to move on to the next place quickly. Photos of employees working as well as well lit portraits of the owners or brew masters from each locations was specified in the brief.
This sort of challenge calls for an experienced, versatile and agile photographer. And I’d be happy to talk with you about your next project!
My approach in situations such as these is to research in advance what my subjects may be doing on the day I arrive to photograph them. Often, there isn’t a lot of time, or there is no possibility of disrupting the daily work that is under way. So I have to plan in advance where I can be and what I can shoot. Then, I need to be open to what unfolds in front of me, whether that follows what I’ve planned in advance or whether it is something out of the blue that presents itself to me.
Finally, I have to have some clean, well lit portraits planned out and need to have a minimum of unobtrusive equipment set up and ready to go so that a busy subject can step into the frame then be released moments later.
We don’t always have the luxury of time on site. But you do have the luxury of choosing someone with decades of experience.
