Medical Magazine Assignment- Photographer Albany NY

 

My assignment was to photograph top plastic surgeon Dr Edwin Williams in Latham NY for Plastic Surgery Practice magazine.

 

Photographing doctors is always one of the greatest logistical challenges. Their schedules are so much more packed than anyone can possibly imagine. And if it isn’t attending to patients or handling the various aspects of their practices, it’s fitting in time for their personal lives around such a busy 7 day a week professional schedule.

 

So skill as a photographer in previsualizing what photos I want is critical. And an agility on-site the day we do a magazine shoot such as this is equally as important. We’re often dealing with patients scheduled into a busy office and a doctor who may have only a minute or two to step in for a photograph.

 

That is what I’m skilled at. Knowing what I want to shoot, which is a product of my decades of experience, as well as thorough consultation with key staff, in advance, to make things go effortlessly on site.

 

Equipment and the scene is set up, tested and prepared in a few minutes. Then, the busy doctor arrives at a prearranged time and steps in for sometimes a minute, sometimes two. And just like that a couple of variations on the image are complete and the busy professional is on his way.
